Our self catering holiday cottages at the luxurious West Fenton Court are situated twenty miles east of Edinburgh in Scotland, in the heart of the East Lothian countryside.

West Fenton Court is located on West Fenton farm, just a mile south of the attractive village of Gullane and close to North Berwick. It is readily accessible to the world famous links golf courses at Muirfield, Gullane and North Berwick. Beaches and coastal walks are close by, and the local countryside provides a wonderful environment for walking and wildlife pursuits.

At the same time, it is just 35 minutes from the centre of Edinburgh by car or train - Drem station is less than two miles away. While Edinburgh, the capital city, offers the cosmopolitan attractions of a city, local towns and villages such as North Berwick, Dirleton and Gullane all have excellent small restaurants and shops.

The holiday cottages comprise the traditional buildings of the farm, built in East Lothian stone and with traditional red pantile roofs, and even the original mill chimney.

Located in a conservation area, adjacent to a local nature reserve, it conveys a sense of peace and proximity to nature that make for the perfect holiday - a walk around the farm in the evening is full of interest, demonstrating a mix of conservation interest, recreation and modern farming. A farm tour is available, and there is a wide range of country walks within easy reach, and the Lammermuir hills are readily accessible for those who require a greater challenge.

Archerfield Cottage is our third cottage. Named after Archerfield Golf Course near North Berwick, it is a lovely two-bedroomed cottage, ideal for couples and families. The cottage is centered by the large living/dining area where your group can relax in comfort or host a dinner party. As with all the cottages, there is plenty of room for storage.

Exterior Archerfield cottage enjoys access to the patio gardens in the adjacent courtyard - a delight on a summer evening. There are sculpted lawns in the garden, with tasteful fencing for privacy and safety for young children.

Kitchen and dining areas for guests who want to enjoy long, relaxed meals at home. If you prefer to be waited upon, there are plenty of local restaurants and cafes.
Lounge rooms with their hardwood floors, sumptuous sofas, they are a great place to relax after your day's golf, walking or beach activities.
Bathrooms, beautifully tiled and fitted to pamper yourself before and after the day's activities.
Bedrooms - tastefully furnished for a comfortable sleep in the quiet of the country.
In all rooms, the furniture, decoration and high degree of comfort, including timed under-floor heating, all convey a sense of quality which will satisfy the most discerning taste.

Each cottage is furnished and equipped to a very high specification: Wellman designed and manufactured kitchens, with gas cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher all incorporated. Dark shiny granite worktops add to the sense of luxury, as do the ceramic tiled floors in the kitchen, bathrooms, showers and utility rooms.

There are polished hardwood floors in the public rooms. Lavish insulation of roof spaces and outer walls ensures the maximum benefit from the timed, gas-fired underfloor central heating system - particularly cosy in the autumn and winter, while remaining cool in the heat of summer.

Satellite and terrestrial TV, video and DVD facilities along with a HiFi radio and CD music centre will meet all your entertainment needs.

Follow M90 across Forth Road Bridge and towards Edinburgh. Take A720 by-pass to go east of Edinburgh then take the A1 south. Follow the A720 until you reach the A1 south. Follow the A1 until the A198 exit towards North Berwick. Drive through village of Gullane. After Scottish Fire Service Training School take first right marked 'West Fenton 1'. At West Fenton Court turn left opposite cottage on right. Park by farmhouse.

From Edinburgh:
From the east side of Edinburgh, take A1 south. Follow the A1 until the A198 exit towards North Berwick. Drive through village of Gullane. After Scottish Fire Service Training School take first right marked 'West Fenton 1'. At West Fenton Court turn left opposite cottage on right. Park by farmhouse.

From South:
Take A1 north towards Edinburgh. Exit at Dunbar and follow A199 to North Berwick. Drive through town on A198 (follow signs to Edinburgh). Enter Gullane from east. Take first left marked 'West Fenton 1', just before the Scottish Fire Service Training School. At West Fenton Court turn left opposite cottage on right. Park by farmhouse.

AIRPORTS

Edinburgh Airport
Edinburgh Airport is only 30 miles from the cottages. To drive from the airport, exit the aiport on the A8 towards Edinburgh, then take the city by-pass (A720) east. Follow the A720 until you reach the A1 south. Follow the A1 until the A198 exit towards North Berwick. Drive through village of Gullane. After Scottish Fire Service Training School take first right marked 'West Fenton 1'. At West Fenton Court turn left opposite cottage on right. Park by farmhouse.

Glasgow Airport
Exit the airport east on the M8 towards Glasgow. Drive through Glasgow towards Edinburgh still on M8. Exit the M8 in Edinburgh where it meets the city by-pass (A720) going east. Follow the A720 until you reach the A1 south. Follow the A1 until the A198 exit towards North Berwick. Drive through village of Gullane. After Scottish Fire Service Training School take first right marked 'West Fenton 1'. At West Fenton Court turn left opposite cottage on right. Park by farmhouse.

BUS
Catch the Edinburgh-North Berwick service 124/129. alight at east end of Gullane, opposite the Scottish Fire Service Training School, a mile from the cottages. The bus will be met if requested in advance.

RAIL
Take Edinburgh-North Berwick line to Drem station, which is less than two miles from the cottages. These trains will be met if requested in advance.

Parking details Each cottage has its own garage.

Access arrangements Bookings are normally for Saturday to Saturday, However variations may be available depending on availability. Bookings are from 4.00pm on the day of arrival until 10.00am on the day of departure, except when special times have been arranged.
